The applicant will perform research experiments designed to understand the pathogenesis of the bacterium such as Staphylococcus aureus that causes disease bacteremia, infective endocarditis and bone and joint infections in accordance with protocols approved by the principal investigator. Areas of work will include bacteria-bacteriophage interactions that contribute to disease severity, biofilm studies, and the study of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics of disease.
