Koen Wortelboer (University of Amsterdam) and colleagues conducted a controlled clinical trial to assess efficacy and safety of sterile fecal filtrate transplantation (FFT) in individuals with metabolic syndrome. Glucose metabolism was similar for both groups, but FFT was well-tolerated, and the phage virion composition was significantly altered two days after FFT (coinciding with more virulent phage-microbe interactions).
